Know Before you Act, and Think before You React

We all have heard the news by now of the terror attacks that took place in Paris on November the 13th, 2015 by “ISIS.” It’s events like these which underscore both the dark side and the bright side of humanity, as many stand to support their brethren around the world. After the attack, what soon followed was a well-coordinated worldwide propaganda campaign staged to instill fear of “ISIS. The increasing media attention focused only one negative aspect of representation about Middle East and Islam as a “Violence and Terrorism.

As citizens of our free world, if we are concerned about these events, it should serve as a motivation to do some digging of our own. Just because major news media outlets say something doesn’t mean we should immediately take that information for it. We must never blindly accept information given to us, including our own elected government leaders. It is our ethical, personal, and civic obligation to research things for ourselves and arrive at an informed opinion. Technology is increasingly giving voice to those on the margins, and news organizations are under added pressure to respond to complaints, which are becoming harder to ignore when amplified on social media and alternative platforms like so called western “religious scholars”. For example, Graeme Wood published his ten thousand words article titled “What ISIS Really Wants” at The Atlantic Magazine in March 2015. He interpreted in his article that ISIS is “very Islamic” which is untrue, condescending, and dangerous. These so called “religious scholars” analyze the issue by one side while left out other factors of the problem.

Following the Paris attacks on Friday Novembers 13th, President Obama stated: “This is an attack on all of humanity and the universal values we share.” While he did not make an official statement in response to the Beirut and Baghdad attacks, he does have a point. This, of course, begs the question: Whose humanity? Who has the privilege of being humanized? Why weren’t the suicide attacks in Baghdad and Beirut also an attack on humanity?

Look at Facebook’s allowance of French flags over top of people’s profile pictures. We didn’t see this happen during Mali Radisson Blue Hotel attack after gun men seized over 170 people and killed at least 20 innocent people. This does not illustrate just the ignorance and bias of media, but has a deeper meaning. The media is a mirror of a society we currently live in; a society in which Muslim lives are apparently not as important as lives of other Europeans, Americans ; which sees Muslims as “uncivilized” and inherently “violent”; where there is a difference between crimes committed by Muslims on one hand and non-Muslims on the other. Nothing justifies the killing of innocents in Paris or in any city of the Arab East, Africa and any part of the world.

In the late seventies, Edward Said published his prominent work “Orientalism”, in which he, among other things, exposed and criticized western inaccurate attitudes and portrayals of Orient cultures. More than thirty years later, his work fits in current media and society frenzy perfectly, as we are witnessing intensive process of demonizing Islam and its followers throughout western hemisphere. They blame the rise of extremist groups like ISIS and al-Qaida on Islam itself, or on the Middle East’s supposedly “backward” culture, yet conveniently gloss over their own countries’ sordid histories and policies.

A Brief History for Your Recollection

History takes no prisoners. It shows, with absolute lucidity, that the Islamic extremism ravaging the world today was borne out of the Western foreign policy of yesteryear. We should consider ask ourselves these questions in order to come with our own conclusion:

Where militant groups like ISIS and al-Qaida did come from?

How U.S. and its allies cultivated Osama bin Laden and Taliban?

If one doesn’t know why a problem emerged, one cannot find its root, one will never be able to solve and uproot it.   The answers of these questions is not as complicated as many make it out to be, but, to understand, we must delve into the history of the Cold War, the historical period lied about in the West perhaps more than any other. A British newspaper, The Independent, in 1993 exemplified the U.S and its allies’ warped hypocrisy titled “Anti-Soviet warrior puts his army on the road to peace: The Saudi businessman who recruited mujahedin now uses them for large-scale building projects in Sudan.”

In 1983, President Reagan famously met with Mujahedeen “freedom fighters” at the U.S Oval Office when CIA and Reagan were desperate for arming Mujahedeen fighters to fight back against Soviet Union in Afghanistan. These Mujahedeen fighters became known as the Taliban. Those “freedom fighters” are the forefathers of ISIS and al-Qaida.

Another factual example is that Hamas was created by Israel with the help of CIA in 1980s in order to undermine the secular socialist resistance of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). A former Israeli government official, Avner Cohen told the Wall Street Journal in a 2009 article titled “How Israel Helped to Spawn Hamas.” “Hamas, to my great regret, is Israel’s creation.” In addition to that, last year September 2014, NEW YORK TIMES published an article titled “Try as He May, John McCain Can’t Shake Falsehoods about Ties to ISIS” and a photos depicts ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Senator John McCain from Arizona, during his visit in May 2013 to northern Syria. Al-Baghdadi was also given space in Camp Bucca during his detention in US military prison to preach and develop his agenda against Bashar Al-Assad. In Camp Bucca, inmates interacted, traded information and battle tactics and made important contacts to each other in the prison. A Yale University Professor, Jeremi Suri described Camp Bucca as “virtual terrorist university.” Following his release from Camp Bucca, al-Baghdadi started his militant movement and formed the Islamic State in Iraq which later became ISIS. “The truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al-Qaeda, and any informed intelligence officer knows this. But, there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an intensified entity representing the ‘devil’ only in order to drive TV watchers to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism. The country behind this propaganda is the United States.” – Former British Foreign Secretary, Robin Cook. It is clear that these acts of terrorism are run by covert operations designed to deceive and manipulate in such a way as to appear as though they had been carried out by groups, nations, or entities other than those who actually planned and executed them.

What Do American know About Islam or Religion in General?

Americans are the most religious people in the western world, but they are also deeply ignorant about religion. A research conducted by Pew Research Center in 2010 -shows that more than half of average American know little about the Bible, Christianity and other world religions, and famous religious figures. Stephen Prothero, a Professor of Religion at Boston University, described American religious ignorance and their belligerent judgment on Islam as “an elephant examined by a blind people.” In addition to that, American politicians’ religious ignorance makes them difficult to understand about Islam, terrorism, and also the Middle East crises. For example, former Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Congressman Silvestre Reyes was asked on an interview that if Al-Qaida is Sunni or Shi’a. His response was “probably Shi’a” which is not. Additionally, one journalist asked a simple question to former congressman who was member of the House Intelligence Committee, Terry Everett -the difference between Sunni and Shi’a. Shamefully, Mr. Terry’s response was “I don’t know”. Without knowing about religion it doesn’t make any sense to know not just Middle East -but also the global conflicts.

It is not a suprise to see like this post on the media and social media platforms about Islam “For those Muslims that claim that Islam is a peaceful religion, I don’t understand how they can say that when their “holy book” specifically tells them to tax non-muslims, subdue non-Muslims and kill non-Muslims.” I copied this quote from an anti-Islam Facebook page. I responded this post by simply asking one question, “Which is more violent, the Bible or the Quran?” after more than hundred replies to my question, none of the replies provided a logical answer to my question. It is possible to compare the amount of cruelty and violence in the two books. The bible has 843 Cruel or Violent Passages while the Quran has only 164 passages allows military action with its limited context. So the Bible has more than four times as many cruel or violent passages as does the Quran.

Historically, Sri Lanka Hindu, Tamil “tigers” invented the art of suicide vest. Additionally, 498 terrorist attacks took place in European Union in 2006, only one carried out Islamists. The lack of neutral information sources, the media will motivate negative and discourse toward Islam as a “religion of violence.” This perception was designed for geopolitical reasons and corporate elites to control the world.

You will never hear or see on the media historical documentaries from European religious violence from 1524 to 1648, following the onset of the Protestant Reformation in Western and Northern Europe and the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland, religious intolerance between Protestant and Catholic communities 1960’s.

A former vice chairman of the National Intelligence Council at the CIA, Graham E. Fuller, his book of “A World Without Islam” asked himself these questions in order to get a concrete answers for his readers “What if Islam is never existed? To some, it’s a comforting thought: No clash of civilizations, no holy wars, no terrorists. Would Christianity have taken over the world? Would the Middle East be a peaceful beacon of democracy? Would 9/11 have happened?” He concluded that if Islam never existed, the world would end up exactly where it is today.

Unfortunately, Muslims have yet discover how to use the media to project ideas and images of their own culture and civilization, and have not yet found any other ways of expressing themselves adequately of who really they are.

Who Benefits from these Wars Orchestrated by U.S and its Allies?

A fiscal conservative, the 34th President of the United States Dwight Eisenhower had been concerned about the growing size and cost of the American defense establishment since he became president in 1953. Eisenhower warned of the “military-industrial complex.” In his exit speech on Jan 17, 1961, “the acquisition of unwarranted influence by the military-industrial-complex.” In particular, he asked the American people to guard against the “danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

The U.S. war in Iraq had cost $1.7 trillion with an additional $490 billion in benefits owed to war veterans. In combination cost of Iraq and Afghanistan wars was at least $3.7 trillion in 2011(Reuters). During economic downturn in U.S and Europe, the world’s biggest arms companies who have seen sales of weapons and military services rise during 2010 and exceed $400 billion (The Guardian).

According a report released by The Intercept on November 16th 2015, three days after Paris attack, Stocks prices for weapons manufacturers rise sharply, and European countries, along with the United States, promised more military action in the Middle East “against ISIS.” Reuters, as published on Fox Business, starkly noted the causal connection: “Shares of aerospace and defense rose sharply on Monday in reaction to the attacks in France.”

Prior, credible people came forward in an attempt to create awareness about the New World Order agenda, but it was considered as a “conspiracy theorists” by most. Throughout my research, I discovered a seven hours and fifteen minutes conference video on YouTube titled “NEW WORLD ORDER” A RECIPE FOR WAR or PEACE!” posted by Perdana Global Peace Foundation, a foundation that was established to preserve, develop and spread information regarding former Prime Ministers of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad. The conference was March 9, 2015 for the purpose of to warn the world about the “New world Order.” The event was organized and headed by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The conference featured numerous speakers, such as Dr. Thomas PM Barnett, an American military geostrategic, and Chief Analyst at Wikistrat. He has also held numerous insider positions, one of them being adviser to former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. These academics and professionals come together to create awareness about what seems to be a global military agenda towards a massive surveillance state and a new world order more specifically, a one world government (PGPF). Like this event, does not receive any mainstream on major media attention, and it’s even more disturbing that it would need to be aired on mainstream television.

The general accusation against people who attempt a rational and honest analysis of what’s going on in the world is framed as “conspiracy theorists.” This belief and habit is being burned into people’s minds by the corporate controlled mainstream media, the ‘spokes channel’ for the corporate elites who own and control not just the media but most countries in the world. So don’t let the fear take over your universal human rights.   It’s becoming less of a secret that the government, intelligence agencies, or ‘powers that be’ are involved in these attacks, and that awareness is a good thing. We’ve seen this with Al-Qaeda, and we could be seeing it with ISIS as well.
